What is Hazardous Waste Management?
Hazardous waste refers to any material that poses a potential risk to human health or the environment due to its chemical, physical, or biological properties. It can be toxic, flammable, corrosive, reactive, or infectious and therefore requires specialised handling, treatment, and disposal.
Hazardous waste is generated across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, laboratories, and commercial operations. It can exist in the form of liquids, solids, gases, sludges, or contaminated materials.
Improper management of hazardous waste can result in serious consequences, including:
- Contamination of soil, air, and water resources
- Harm to human health and wildlife
- Increased environmental and safety risks
- Regulatory non-compliance and financial liabilities
Because of these risks, hazardous waste is subject to strict regulations governing its identification, storage, transportation, treatment, and disposal. Effective hazardous waste management is essential to protect communities, preserve natural resources, and support a safer, more sustainable environment.
Our Footprint in Hazardous Waste Management in India
